Voters in Fayette, Lamar, and Walker Counties, as well as portions of Jefferson and Tuscaloosa Counties, went to the polls on Tuesday to select the next Senator for District 5.
Republican State Representative Matt Woods faced Democratic nominee Ryan Cagle in the special election made necessary by the departure of former Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Reed, who resigned to join Governor Kay Ivey’s cabinet as her Senior Advisor on Workforce Transformation.
