ABC Orders Surprise 'Grey's Anatomy' Spinoff in Texas After Cast Exits

ABC is expanding the Grey’s Anatomy universe again — this time, with a rural West Texas spinoff. Deadline confirmed on Tuesday, May 19, that ABC has given a straight-to-series order to the untitled medical drama. The series will be co-created, written and executive produced by Shonda Rhimes and Grey’s Anatomy showrunner Meg Marinis. Star Ellen Pompeo also is executive producing the new offshoot, which will premiere midseason 2027.
