UNION CITY, Calif (TCN) -- Police announced the arrest of a 46-year-old woman in connection with the death of a newborn girl found in a dumpster nearly 16 years ago.
According to the Union City Police Department, on May 18, 2009, a man looking for recyclables near the Parkside Apartments discovered the deceased baby, named by officers as Matea Esperanza, meaning "Gift from God" in Hebrew and "Hope" in Spanish. Authorities launched an investigation that "remained open and active for more than a decade."
