downtown Philadelphia trash strike
The AFSCME District Council 33 represents 9,000 city workers in Philadelphia and they began striking on July 1st, putting a stop to trash pickup. Seven days into the strike and the City of Brotherly Love’s trash situation has gotten out of control.
There were no negotiations on Sunday between the union and city officials in Sunday, leading to another day of trash heaps piling up throughout the city. This has led to videos from Philadelphia making it look like a third-world country when in fact it’s one of our nation’s greatest cities.
