Newly drawn Second Congressional District attracting wide field of candidates

With the deadline to file just days away, the field of candidates for the new Second Congressional District is growing. Three Democrats and one Republican have filed to run in the newly drawn district: State Rep. Napoleon Bracy (D-Prichard), State Sen. Kirk Hatcher (D-Montgomery), State Sen. Merika Coleman (D-Birmingham) and Republican Caroleene Dawson, a real estate attorney. The district includes much of Mobile, including Prichard, and the cities of Montgomery, Troy, Eufaula, Tuskegee, Greenville, Union Springs, Evergreen, and Frisco City. The voting-age population is 47-48% black and 45% w
