Michigan man escaped halfway house after allegedly killing girlfriend who went missing in 2022

KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. (TCD) -- A 38-year-old man recently sentenced for escaping a halfway house stands accused of killing his girlfriend, a mother of eight, who went missing in 2022. U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan Mark Totten announced Friday, Jan. 12, that a judge sentenced Carlos Watts to 14 months in prison after he cut off his tether and fled a halfway house, where he had been ordered to live for a federal drug and firearm possession conviction.
