Elderly man allegedly fatally suffocated his wife and tried to kill himself in failed murder-suicide

SUN CITY, S.C. (TCD) -- An elderly man is in custody on suspicion of killing his wife and trying to end his own life over the weekend. According to a news release from the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office, on Saturday, March 23, dispatchers received a call from a man at Penny Creek Drive who claimed "he and his wife had killed themselves." Deputies responded to the residence, where they found a 77-year-old woman deceased. The sheriff's office also found the woman's husband, John Rounds, also 77, with multiple non-life-threatening cuts. Beaufort County Emergency Medical Services
