Alabama military construction projects receive $300M+ boost in defense bill

More than 37,000 servicemembers stationed in Alabama are set to receive the largest pay raise approved by Congress in over 20 years. Alabama’s elected officials in Washington also secured more than $300 million for construction projects at military installations across the state.  The Fiscal Year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act was passed by the U.S. House and Senate this week after months of negotiation on both fundamental and specific appropriation measures.
