Rye whiskey is on the rise.
While the category had one foot in the grave for decades, the so-called “bourbon boom” of the mid-aughts inadvertently led to a resurgence of rye whiskey. This style was originally king in America before a series of mishaps caused it to fall out of favor, but savvy enthusiasts have forced the hand of some of the country’s biggest distilleries. Producers who formerly made rye whiskey only once a year have expanded to produce juice for weeks at a time, meeting the demand of thirsty consumers and innovating along the way.
