Senate Democrats defy White House warnings, again block GOP bid to reopen government

Senate Democrats blocked Republicans’ bid to reopen the government for a sixth time on Wednesday as pressure and threats from the White House increased.It’s been "Groundhog Day" in the Senate for eight days — but unlike the 1993 Bill Murray comedy, there’s been little, if any, forward progress among the cast of senators.
