Philadelphia Residents Are Threatening Violence Against Waymo Vehicles After Company Moves In City

Waymo vehichle Waymo, the self-driving ride-hailing service owned by Google, moved into Philadelphia for the first time this month, and Philly residents weren’t exactly as receptive to the idea as the company may have hoped. Traditionally, Philadelphia has taken an adversarial approach to robots and robot-adjacent technology. In 2015, a Philadelphia man destroyed hitchBOT,  a robot that was hitchhiking across the United States.
